What advantage is there to having an Arkansas concealed handgun license?
If you have a valid Arkansas concealed handgun license, you may purchase a firearm at a federal firearms
licensed dealer without having to undergo a NICS check at the point of purchase.
How long does it take to get my handgun permit?
Within 120 days, the process may be delayed if your fingerprints are not of high enough quality to be accepted.
What type of background checks are done for my concealed handgun license?
The Arkansas State Police performed a name based check through the Arkansas Crime information Center
(ACIC), the Interstate Identification Index (III) and the National Instant Check System (NICS). The fingerprint
card is forwarded to the FBI and they perform a nationwide fingerprint based search.
What if my Licenses have expired over six months?
You will have to begin as a new applicant with a new application.
What if my Licenses is expired less than six months?
Add an additional $15.00 to the renewal Cost .
What is the renewal cost to AR State Police?
$60.00
What is Restricted vs Unrestricted Licenses?
Restricted – allows the person to carry any legal handgun other than a semiautomatic handgun
Unrestricted – allows the person to carry any legal handgun. (The licensee must establish proficiency in the
use of a semiautomatic handgun).
